Abstract

The use of herbal medicines has continued to increase as public interest in natural and traditional healthcare approaches grows. However, the widespread use of herbal products is not always accompanied by adequate knowledge regarding their benefits, safety, dosage, and proper use. In addition, the rapid dissemination of health information through digital media often makes it difficult for individuals to distinguish reliable scientific information from misleading content. This community service program aimed to improve community herbal medicine literacy through digital education in Wolasi District, Southeast Sulawesi, Indonesia. The program employed an educational and participatory approach, including health counseling, interactive discussions, educational video presentations, and the distribution of digital educational materials such as infographics and e-booklets. Evaluation was conducted using pre-test and post-test questionnaires to assess changes in participants’ knowledge before and after the intervention. The results demonstrated a significant improvement in participants’ understanding of the benefits and safety of herbal medicines, the selection of legally registered herbal products, rational herbal medicine use, and the ability to access health information from credible sources. Participants also showed high levels of engagement throughout the program. Digital education proved to be an effective strategy for enhancing herbal medicine literacy and promoting responsible use of natural products. This initiative is expected to contribute to community health improvement through the sustainable utilization of digital technology and natural resources
